Chennedy Carter Traded to Los Angeles
In a surprising turn of events, Chennedy Carter, the No. 4 pick in the 2020 WNBA draft, has been traded from the Atlanta Dream to the Los Angeles Sparks. The 5'9" guard, who played college basketball at Texas A&M, averaged 21.3 points per game in her rookie season.
National Team Star
Carter is also a member of the USA National Team, where she won a gold medal at the 2019 FIBA Women's AmeriCup. Her athleticism and scoring ability make her one of the most promising young players in the WNBA.
Early Promise
Shonda Perkins, Carter's mother, always knew her daughter had a special talent for basketball. "She had a ball in her hand since she was a toddler," Perkins said. "She always wanted to play and always had a knack for it."
A Bright Future
The trade to Los Angeles gives Carter a chance to play alongside some of the league's biggest stars, including Nneka Ogwumike, Candace Parker, and Brittney Sykes. The Sparks are hoping that Carter's offensive firepower will help them contend for a championship in the years to come.
